Terms of Use

Last updated: 26 October 2026

The short version. BassRack is a tool for practising bass. You bring the audio. Use BassRack only with audio you own or have the right to use. You are solely responsible for the content you upload, fetch, process or practise with. BassRack does not host, distribute, sell or share songs, and does not store your songs on its servers (the one exception, Premium Cloud, processes your file and then deletes it, see section 3.2). The full Terms below are what applies.

1. Who we are

BassRack ("BassRack", "we", "us") is operated by Jeronimo Maria Repetto Cirio, an individual, with address at Dr. Santaolalla 23, 03005 Alicante, Spain, tax identification number NIE: Z0082700C. You can contact us at [email protected]. Copyright matters go to [email protected] (see the Copyright & Takedown Policy).

These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your use of the BassRack website at bassrack.com, the BassRack web app and the optional BassRack Tuner desktop helper (together, the "Service").

2. Accepting these Terms

By using the Service you agree to these Terms and acknowledge our Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

You must be at least 14 years old to use the Service, or the minimum age required to consent to online services in your country if that is higher. If you are under the age of majority where you live, a parent or legal guardian must agree to these Terms on your behalf and is responsible for your use of the Service.

3. What BassRack is

3.1 A practice tool

BassRack is a web app for practising bass guitar. You bring your own audio: you upload a file from your device or, optionally, use the BassRack Tuner on your own computer to fetch audio from a link you provide. BassRack then separates the bass from the rest of the mix, transcribes it into a playable chart and scores your live playing as you play along. BassRack is a tool, like an audio editor or a music player: what you put into it is your choice and your responsibility.

3.2 Where your data lives

BassRack is built so that your music stays on your device:

  • Your library, your audio files, the separated stems and the charts are stored locally in your browser or on your device.
  • We do not store your songs or your audio on our servers.
  • Exception: Premium Cloud. If you use Premium Cloud (a planned feature), you upload a file so our servers can process it for you. The audio is processed and deleted immediately after processing, and in any case within 24 hours of the upload. The results (stems and chart) are returned to your device.
  • If you create an account (a planned feature), we sync metadata only across your devices: your profile, charts, corrections, progress, best scores and achievements. No audio is synced. Your achievement history is kept even if you delete a song.

Because your library lives on your device, clearing your browser data or uninstalling the app can delete it. Keep your own backups of anything you care about.

3.3 Features in development

Some features described in these Terms (accounts and sync, paid plans, Premium Cloud, the BassRack Tuner, real advertising) are planned and may not be available yet. Where a feature is not yet available, the clauses about it apply from the day it becomes available. We may change, add or remove features over time; if a change materially reduces a paid feature you are subscribed to, section 15 applies.

4. Accounts

Some features require an account. You can sign in with an email address or with a Google account. You agree to give accurate information, to keep your sign-in credentials secure and to tell us promptly at [email protected] if you believe your account has been used without your permission. An account is personal: do not share it or create accounts for other people without their permission. You are responsible for activity under your account, except activity caused by our failure to take reasonable security measures.

5. Plans, billing and refunds

5.1 Plans

  • Free: the core practice features, supported by advertising. Today the ads in the app are simulated samples; real advertising may be introduced later (see section 10).
  • Premium: no ads.
  • Premium Cloud: no ads, plus server-side processing of the files you upload, as described in section 3.2.

The BassRack Tuner (section 8) is a free, optional tool available to everyone, whatever the plan. Paid plans never include, unlock or pay for downloading audio from any site: what you pay for is the removal of ads and, with Premium Cloud, server-side processing of files you upload.

The features of each plan are described on the website at the time you subscribe.

5.2 Paddle is our Merchant of Record

Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record for all our orders: Paddle sells you the subscription, processes the payment, collects and remits applicable taxes, issues invoices and handles customer service inquiries about payments and returns. Your purchase is also governed by Paddle's buyer terms, which Paddle shows at checkout. We never receive your full card or bank details.

5.3 Prices and taxes

Prices are set in US dollars (USD) worldwide and shown at checkout before you pay, including any taxes Paddle must collect where you live. Your bank may apply currency conversion fees. Prices may change; a price change for an existing subscription takes effect at the next renewal and is notified to you in advance, and you can cancel before it applies.

5.4 Renewal and cancellation

Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period until you cancel. You can cancel at any time from your account or through Paddle; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period, and you keep access until then.

5.5 Refunds and the right of withdrawal

Refunds are handled by Paddle under our Refund Policy and Paddle's buyer terms. If you are a consumer in the European Union, the United Kingdom or another country with a statutory right of withdrawal, you have the rights described in the Refund Policy, and nothing in these Terms limits them.

6. Your content and copyright

This section matters. Please read it carefully.

6.1 Use only audio you have the right to use

You may use BassRack only with audio that you own or have the right to use, for example:

  • recordings you made yourself;
  • music you purchased, where the licence allows personal use of this kind;
  • royalty-free or Creative Commons material, under the terms of its licence;
  • material whose rights holder has given you permission.

6.2 You are solely responsible for your content

You are solely responsible for the content you upload, fetch, process or practise with using BassRack, including the audio, links, charts, corrections and any other material you bring into the Service ("Your Content"), and for making sure that your use of it complies with copyright law, the terms of the site or service it comes from, and any other applicable law. BassRack does not check, select or approve Your Content.

6.3 What BassRack does not do

BassRack does not host, distribute, sell or share songs, and does not store your songs in its database or on its servers (subject only to the transient Premium Cloud processing described in section 3.2). BassRack does not provide any catalogue of music.

6.4 No infringement, no circumvention

You must not use the Service to infringe copyright or any other right of anyone, or to circumvent DRM or any other technical protection measure. The BassRack Tuner does not support, and will never support, services that protect their content with DRM.

6.5 No responsibility for your unlawful use

To the maximum extent permitted by law, BassRack takes no responsibility for any use of copyrighted works without permission by users of the Service. We act as a provider of a tool and, for Premium Cloud and synced metadata, as a provider of a hosting service for content stored at your request; we remove content when we become aware that it is unlawful, as described in the Copyright & Takedown Policy.

6.6 Your indemnity

To the extent permitted by law, you agree to compensate us for losses, damages and reasonable costs (including reasonable legal fees) arising from third-party claims caused by Your Content or by your breach of this section 6. If you are a consumer, this applies only where the claim results from your culpable breach of these Terms.

6.7 The licence you give us

You keep all rights you have in Your Content. You give us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to store, copy and process Your Content only as needed to provide the Service to you: to process a Premium Cloud upload and return the result, and to store and sync your metadata across your devices. This licence ends when the content is deleted, except for copies kept in backups for the limited time described in the Privacy Policy.

6.8 Reporting infringement

If you believe content in the Service infringes your rights, see our Copyright & Takedown Policy. We terminate the accounts of repeat infringers in appropriate circumstances.

7. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • use the Service in breach of section 6 or of any law;
  • copy, resell or commercially exploit the Service, or use it to provide a service to others, without our written permission;
  • reverse engineer, decompile or attempt to extract the source code or models of the Service, except where the law allows it despite this restriction;
  • interfere with or disrupt the Service, probe its security, or send automated requests that place an unreasonable load on it;
  • bypass plan limits, ads or access controls, or access another user's account;
  • upload malware or content that is unlawful, harmful or that you have no right to upload.

We may suspend or limit access when we reasonably believe these rules are being broken (see section 13).

8. The BassRack Tuner

8.1 What it is

The BassRack Tuner is optional desktop software that runs locally on your own computer. When you give it a link to audio or video on a supported site, it fetches that audio on your computer and hands it to BassRack on the same computer. The fetching happens on your device, at your request, from the link you choose; our servers do not fetch anything from those sites. The Tuner never supports DRM-protected services.

8.2 Your responsibility for links

You decide which links you give the Tuner. You are responsible for making sure that you have the right to download and use that audio and that doing so complies with the terms of the site it comes from. Many sites do not allow downloading; if a site does not, do not use the Tuner with it.

8.3 Licence and updates

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to install and use the Tuner on devices you own or control, for your personal use with the Service, free of charge and whatever your plan. You may use the Tuner only with audio you own or have the right to use (section 6.1). The Tuner may update itself automatically, including its components, to keep working, to fix bugs and to address security issues. Some components may be third-party open-source software under their own licences, which prevail for those components.

8.4 Beta builds on Windows

Early versions of the Tuner for Windows may be beta builds that are not yet code-signed. Windows may show a security warning (for example, SmartScreen) before installing them. Only download the Tuner from bassrack.com or an official store listing linked from it. Beta software may contain bugs; use it at your own discretion.

9. Our intellectual property

The Service, including its software, models, design, graphics, the BassRack name and logo, and its texts and lessons, belongs to us or our licensors and is protected by intellectual property laws. Except for the rights expressly granted in these Terms, no rights are transferred to you. Charts and corrections generated for you are provided for your personal practice; they do not give you any rights in the underlying musical works.

10. Advertising

The Free plan shows advertising. Today the ads in the app are simulated samples that link nowhere. When we enable a real advertising network, ads may be served by that network. Personalised advertising, and any non-essential storage an ad network uses, only happens with your consent, which you can give or withdraw at any time from "Cookie settings" (see the Cookie Policy). Without that consent, you may see non-personalised ads only. Premium plans have no ads.

11. Disclaimers

We work to make BassRack accurate and reliable, but stem separation and transcription are automatic and can be wrong: notes may be missing, misplaced or in the wrong octave, and scoring may not reflect your playing exactly. The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", and to the extent permitted by law we do not promise that it will be uninterrupted, error-free or fit for a particular purpose. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits any warranty or right you have as a consumer that cannot be excluded or limited by law, including the statutory guarantee of conformity for digital content and services where it applies.

12. Limitation of liability

12.1 Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, for damage caused intentionally or by gross negligence, or for any other liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law, including your mandatory rights as a consumer.

12.2 Subject to section 12.1, and to the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for: (a) loss of data stored on your device, including your library, where you could have avoided it by keeping backups; (b) loss caused by Your Content or by your breach of these Terms; (c) loss caused by third-party sites, services or software that we do not control; (d) indirect or consequential loss that was not reasonably foreseeable when you accepted these Terms; or (e) loss of profits, business or revenue, where you use the Service for a business purpose.

12.3 Subject to section 12.1, and to the extent permitted by law, our total liability arising out of or in connection with the Service is limited to the amount you paid to BassRack (through Paddle) for the Service in the twelve months before the claim or, if you have paid nothing, EUR 50 (or the minimum amount permitted by law, if different).

13. Suspension and termination

You can stop using the Service at any time and delete your account from your account settings or by writing to [email protected]. We may suspend or terminate your access, in a proportionate way and after notice where reasonable, if you seriously or repeatedly breach these Terms, if you are a repeat infringer, if required by law, or if we discontinue the Service. If we discontinue a paid service without your breach, we will arrange a pro-rata refund of prepaid fees for the unused period through Paddle. Sections 6, 9, 11, 12 and 14 survive termination.

14. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of Spain. If you are a consumer, this choice does not deprive you of the protection of the mandatory provisions of the law of the country where you live, and you may bring proceedings in the courts of that country. Subject to that, the courts of Alicante (Spain) have jurisdiction. Before going to court, please contact us at [email protected]; we will try to resolve the issue informally.

15. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms to reflect changes to the Service, the law or our business. We will show the date of the latest version at the top of this page. For material changes, we will give you reasonable notice in advance (for example, in the app or by email if you have an account). If you do not agree with a change, you can stop using the Service and cancel your subscription before the change takes effect; if the change materially reduces a paid feature, you can cancel and ask for a pro-rata refund of the unused period.

16. General

If any provision of these Terms is found invalid or unenforceable, the rest remains in effect. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. You may not transfer your rights under these Terms without our consent; we may transfer them to a successor operating the Service, provided your rights are not reduced. These Terms are available in English and Spanish; the Spanish version prevails in case of inconsistency, except where the law of your country requires otherwise.
